Prestige Records
Prestige Records is one of the most revered and historically significant jazz labels in the world. Prestige was at the cutting edge of modern jazz, helping to usher in the eras of bop, hard-bop and soul jazz in the ’50s, and free jazz and fusion in the ’60s. Jazz giants like Thelonious Monk, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins tracked for Prestige, and the label released numerous historically significant titles, including Cookin’, Relaxin’, Workin’ and Steamin’ from the Miles Davis Quintet, Etta Jones’ Don’t Go to Strangers, the Modern Jazz Quartet’s Django, Eric Dolphy’s Out There and Sonny Rollins’ Saxophone Colossus.
